Geneva for Cut-Throats?

While making horribly unclassy comments through-out her editorial today on liberal opposition to security and imprisonment weasures towards captured terrorists, Ann Coulter penned this absolute gem:

By the way, how did the Geneva Conventions work out for McCain at the Hanoi Hilton?

When our enemies sliced Daniel Pearl's head off and Al Jazeera televised it, when the enemy does not openly where uniforms and act as soldiers for a cognizable state, when citizens are directly targeted for heinous acts, when intelligence is needed without time to obtain a warrant to stop a bombing of anything, the Geneva Conventions do not apply.

The idea that our decision to utilize methods that we decide are proper will motivate our enemies to ignore the Geneva rules on prisoner treatment so that Americans will not suffer from torture ignores the events since Danny Pearl's death at captor's hands (and gleefully filmed).

Global Warming Not Man Caused

Colorado State meteorology professor Bill Gray may have invited an Al Gore fatwa by stating:

“I think we’re coming out of the little ice age, and warming is due to changes to ocean circulation patterns due to salinity variations,” Gray said. “I’m sure that’s it.”

Not man caused? Kill him, I say! Ecologicalism is a faith more rabid than Islamism (see George Reisman's "Intertwined Insanities").

Gray said Earth was warmer in some medieval periods than it is today. Current weather models are good at predicting weather as far as 10 days in advance, but predicting up to 100 years into the future is “a great act of faith, and I don’t believe any of it,” he said.

That sounds like history to me. I'll take the movie instead.

Saddam's Judge Fired

The Iraqi judge, Judge Abdullah al-Amiri, who told Saddam he did not consider him a tyrant was just removed from the trial. Good move. I guess he just wanted to live. In related news, Judge Abdullah al-Amiri was suggested as a nominee for a federal judge position by Patrick Leahy.

Pope: Apologize To Each And Every One Of Us

Love this headline and story: Muslims Want Further Apology From Pope.

The mufti of Jerusalem said:

"So far, we consider the apology of the Vatican Pope insufficient. We firmly ask the Vatican Pope to offer a personal, public and clear apology to the 1.5 billion Muslims in this world."

I agree. I think he should apologize to each and every one of the 1.5 billion Muslims world-wide. He should tell them he does not consider them violent or misusing their religion for political dominance.

I mostly want him to make the apologies in order to avoid the rioting and mass killing that will take place by the followers of the Religion of Peace.

Queers and Quranists

Bret Stephens discusses the odd alliance between the liberal Left and Islamists. While the former enjoy freedoms never allowed citizens throughout history and the latter finds such freedoms anathema, they have combined to thwart responsible methods of defense proposed and utilized by the U.S.

From the group Queers Undermining Israeli Terrorism to university professors to atheistic pacifists, the anti-war coalition can feel morally superior in its opposition to any war ("war is only a last resort" and when is that last moment again?) and the government's actions to avoid "another 9-11" without facing the prospects of an Islamist victory. While the West allows gay pride parades, open discourse of ideas without imprisonment and open atheism, any of the above are deemed heretical to Muslim law and the apostate can expect sure death under Sharia law.

Those fulfilling their Constitutional mandate to protect U.S. citizens are continually hampered in that effort by the very people most benefited by those efforts. Ironic.
